He dreamt that there is an idol of Maa Aadi Shakti in that area and he started digging. Finally he was successful in finding an idol of goddess and he built a temple there itself. However while digging the hands of the idol were broken so the hands were made of silver. At that time the idol was kept in a basement so it was known as “Maa Gufa Wali” which means the goddess of cave.
Later on a new idol similar to the old was also established in the ground floor and Badri Das had fixed a prayer flag there. It was during the Shah Jahan’s rule people used to offer prayer flags to the temple from where we got the today’s name of Jhandelwala Mandir.
The mandir is visited by the devotees to seek blessings of the goddess on days of Ramnavami. It is the lower ground floor where the puja is performed.
